Any idea of how well this stuff stays on a jig or how well it works for perch. After going thru a ton of minnows last fall while fishing for perch on Leech lake i thought I may try some of this this year. I could not believe how good those perch can get a Minnow off a jig. We were running the hook thru the minnow 2 or 3 times and would still loose minnows one after another without hooking the fish. We caught a lot of 9 1/2 ” fish last year. We’d keep about 1 out of ever 4 we would catch. I’m hoping those same fish will be more around 10 1/2 or 11″ this fall. That sure would be some good eating – nothing better than perch !!!! Thanks in advance for all your response.

    Hello,

Gulp alive is a great artificial bait. It stays on the hook very well, you are able to catch multiple fish per bait. As the gulp slogan states it out fishes live bait, in a lot instances it does. Just make sure not to leave the gulp on your jig or hook when it is not being use it will dry rock hard in a matter of a couple hours.

    Take care!

I like to fish it with a jig head as well as on a drop shot rig. I would think both would serve you well fishing for perch. I too have caught some nice crappies with the 2.5 inch minnows and during the winter, had one hundred perch day with the 1 inch gulp minnows. I think it is a good alternative to minnows.

gulp stays on the hook great and is cheaper than real minnoows in the way that you dont go through nearly a much.

It’s all I use for crappies anymore, you can catch a limit and then some on one bait!!! Just be sure to remove it from your hook when done otherwise it will dry like leather on your jig and takes a team of horses to and a scapel to remove it.
