I’d like to give the StCroix Rod Company a thumbs up for replacing my broken rod, which only broke because of my getting it caught in the sliding glass door when I was carrying it into the house. After I stopped ranting and kicking myself and apologizing to MFW who gave me the rod as a birthday gift, I checked the StCroix web site. I then used the Gold star service plan ($50) to send the rod back to them ($10 shipping) three days later I got a phone message to call their service dept. I figured oh oh here comes the big to bad so sad you screwed up line but I was pleasantly surprised when the service rep. told me they would be happy to replace my $260 rod for the $50 I’d sent with my broken one. Two days latter my new rod was at my door, thanks StCroix!!

I’ve sent a few of them back and have had the same great service that you received. This great service and quality product is probably why all my cash seems to go to Dean to add to my Croix collection!

I just snapped the end off my triumph casting rod today. They are $70 rods, so I’m trying to figure out if it is worth sending back to get replaced, or if I should just go buy a new one.
How do you package the rod when you return it? I don’t happen to have any 7′ skinny boxes laying around, so I’m wondering how you guys packaged yours. If it costs me $50 to replace the rod, plus around $10 dollars to ship it, then I’m really only saving maybe $10. Plus then you don’t get a chance to look the rod over before you buy it, so is it really worth doing the warranty return in this situation…?

Also, what is the difference in the premiers and the triumph series? I put the descriptions side by side and the only difference I see is that the triumphs are made in Mexico and are $50 cheaper than the premier. I wanted to get a premier originally, but I got the triumph because it seemed to be the same thing for $50 less.
