    Coincidence?

My Favorite Mother in Law had a thing for dragon flys. She liked them as nic-naks and would seek them out any place she could find them. Garage sales seemed to be her favorite. Anything that had a dragon fly on she would find a place for in her house.

Here’s just a couple of examples taken with a cell phone.

How often do you see a live dragon fly that you can pick up and move around?

This was about 1 pm yesterday, right after the service in the church parking lot.

It was very much alive when placed on pretty much every ones shoulder at on point or other.

    What are the odds?

She would have loved it down here, Beeks. They are fairly common about everywhere I go, it seems. The other day while trolling, I had no less than 6 of them sitting on my reels, legs, tackle boxes, you name it. They’re everywhere!

Its amazing how wildlife seems to “fill in” for fallen loved ones at the most unbelieveable times. At our wedding we released butterflies after the ceremony, I never got to meet my mother in law but one particular butterfly landed on my wifes shoulder, hung out for a brief moment, then immediately flew over to my sister in law (my wifes only sibling), then proceed to fly off. Coincedence???

B, that’s some nice toilet cam work.

It’s the year of the mosquito and tree frog down here. Lots of dragon flies too but they are the least annoying so far.

Yeah, they are common up here to…just that they normally don’t stay around from noon until sunset..on someone’s shirt.

I haven’t checked yet, but I’ll bet it’s still there.

It depends on where you live. I see dozens of those Green Darners dragon fly’s every time the wife, dog & I take a walk down the tractor path behind our house. Two weeks ago we saw what appeared to be several hundred of them flying over the corn fields next to that tractor path.
Some days quite a few of them will spend a few hours flying around in our back yard.
Our house is located within a hundred yards of a fairly large pond and as a result, we see this kind of wild life fairly often.
Little things like watching dragon fly’s, hummingbirds & barn swallows flying around the house & back yard are not to be taken for granted.

Anyone who watched the PGA championships at Whistling Straits on TV last weekend would have seen hundreds of those Green Darners flying around in the back ground.

I know what your saying Brian. My mom when she passed away loved yellow roses. We had a red rose bush by the fence and a few days after she passed away, just one rose, turned yellow, all the rest were red. To this day I’m sure shes here with us, we just can’t see her.

My wifes mother passed away since my mom and on occasion shes sure she smells the perfume she used to wear. I know its hard to believe sometimes but I think theres more to reality then we can see. The worlds a big place and a good place, we just have to walk around some of the big rocks in its path, thier there for a reason, and maybe enjoy some of the things we can’t see but can remember.

My father’s troubles that lead to his death a few days later began on August 19th (2005).

My son was born on Oct 19th (2005).

I bagged the biggest buck of my life on November 19th (2005)….and I’m not a very good buck hunter.

Well I have to say, I consider myself rather spiritual, I for one don’t think it was accidental at all, I do believe people have some power after they pass to let others know they my be gone in body, but not always in spirit.
So I wouldn’t chalk it up to a a random event myself.

In my family it always seems we see doves around funerals and deaths in my family, part of me discounts it in part because we kind of know of this, and think that we may be watching for them during these hard times, but it also seems that, it comes across when you see some doves you can’t have missed them….

A while back, we put down a Golden retreiver of our, hard on all of us, even harder to explain to a 3 year old where her dog went…. So we pretty much told her the truth, in a kid safe manor. Lately the daughter has been asking to go to the cabin, and she said the Megan (our golden) is there with maggie…. This is very interesting…. my parents had a dog passed named maggie, maggie died before My daughter was born, and so she never met her and I can’t think of a time where maggie has really ever been discussed. Megan lived with us for a year or so when we lived with my parents while we bought a house, they were good friends and we’d often we find maggie curled up and sleeping on/with megan…

Think what you will, pretty freakin’ weird, I believe there probably more to the story than we’ll know in our lifetime.

It isn’t that these things are strange, unexplainable, or coincidence. It’s simply that your heart and especially your mind are more open to be aware of such things when they happen. Truth be told countless examples of these unexplainable blessings happen to us every day of our lives, but we are either too tired, too busy, too mad, to “whatever” to notice them. As the old saying goes, you gotta STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES…or in your case see the dragonfly.

Well said. I’ve had things like that happen to me a lot and after a while, you don’t question it any more or give in to doubt.

You can bet it was a sign that she is looking down on the family..If you ever visit the spiritual side of life, especially when a death brings it out and opens your eyes to it, you will realize some things dont need explaining..Mom was in your presence..

All things considered,it is always easiest to explain things away as just a normal circrumstance.
I believe the oppostie is true. Simular things happen all to often to just be coincidence.
The word “Faith” in its simplest form, is just what it means.

I have to say I’m not a guy out looking for “signs”…If it would have been a bird, a butterfly anything BUT a dragon fly..we would have thought nothing of it.

    Pics were finally emailed today.

Maybe it was just a friendly dragon fly.

Maybe thats right Brian,,, but who really knows, You can never know forsure if she sent it as a signal, but because she knew you and your favorite knew she liked dragonflies was there a better way to signal. No one knows forsure so Id take that as her signal saying shes ok and she liked the get together. When flowers turn colors and dragon flies are at a party all day long and we knew people close to us that liked them, I believe thats a signal.

Dude, that’s too cool. And even if it is “just” a dragonfly… it’s meaningful to people. I think that’s what makes it NOT “just” a dragonfly.

There was a lone male cardinal in a pine tree singing it’s heart out the day we buried my father. Not one other sound at the cemetary. To this day wherever I have lived there have been cardinals nesting very nearby. I always seem to have great luck any day I see them. Coinidence? I don’t think so.
