I like Gardy’s quote after the game…”Thome said he was going to do something special as he left the dugout…and he did it!”

AJ didn’t seem to like it when Delmond gave him a shot at the plate last night. You could tell AJ wanted to say something, then realized Delmond would pound him like a hammer on a nail. Wonder if AJ’s teammates would have jumped in to help?

I agree, beating the Sox is better then beating the rest of the league.

There really is only one problem with Thome: He can’t run. I could have scored from second on Valencia’s double last night and I’m 7 years older and out of shape. Thome has to hit a homer or the guys following him have to if he gets on base. But I still love the big slow lug! He is the classiest guy in baseball.

Let us not forget, Thome is a fellow fisherman.

They way the Socks had been getting a run or two in the final innings of the last couple of games, I knew a one run game wasn’t good, then “poof” gone, then “poof” Sox go up, when Delmon hit that single on the first pitch, I figured the Sox pitcher had lost some zip…then big Jim..lights out

What we really, really need is the Yankee’s and Rangers to square off in round one with the Twins holding home field advantage throughout the play-offs.

Given that scenario I’ll take our chances with the pitching staff. But you are right, Capps needs to be better.

Here is a prediction………Hardy gets hot and finishes with 12 home runs and hits .280

Does anybody know if Punto is healthy? I’m just wondering if Valencia’s hitting is keeping him out of the line-up. I really like Punto; but his bat can be a liability. On the other hand he can save you a run or two with his defense. But even with Punto out the Twins have great defense. The Twins have got a talented infield. Even Casilla has been good this year. I’m glad I don’t have to figure out who to play every night!

Seriously I would imagine as hard as he throws a football his fastball would be pretty darn wicked. That would be an interesting question. I wonder if he played baseball?

If we can get the starting pitching to start hitting on all cylinders and become consistant, I think the Twins can hang in there with any team, I’d think a best of seven series would be more to my liking. Look at the past couple of nights, the starters have been…well not so sharp the relievers have done pretty good, but they can’t sustain much more than 3 games in a row where they have to come in in the 5th, they get worn out and the batters get to see their stuff.

My assumption is there just isn’t a place for Punto right now. Valencia is playing so well and Hardy has been pretty solid.

It’s going to be even more interesting once Mourneau comes back. Then we move Cudde back out to right. Who sits, Kubel or Delmon? I don’t care for either of them in the field, but like their bats in the line up.

Thome was on 1st. He got caught jogging in between 3rd an home and when he realized they had a play on him it was too late. Early in the game like that I will take my chances on a perfect relay. I also agree he is slow, but he can hit.

Another nice game by Duensing last night.

With the development of Valencia, Punto’s days may be numbered anyway. Alot will depend on if they sign Hudson again next year or they try and give the job to Casilla. Casilla makes almost no money and Pavano will get a huge contract if they sign him.

As Twins fans we may need to start getting concerned about the Morneau concussion. This is really starting to look no good.
