This came a while ago and it’ll change a lot of thoughts posed here….especially considering the statement made by someone that many people at this site are probably over the limit in some way or another. Consider all the smoked [processed] and pickled fish people make and keep on hand.

    Hello Tom,

Pickled or canned is considered processed. Any processed fish need to be counted as part of your limit.

What if you have a limit of fish from Minnesota and a limit from Iowa in your freezer are you over in both states or neither. (or any two states) How do you handle that? Tag each fish?

Does anyone remember the story about the Lions club annual fish fry that was pinched by the DNR.
Too many panfish over their limits for the amount of licensed anglers invoved in the event.
I can’t remeber what town it was?

In this scenario, you are able to have both states posession limit, so as long as you don’t exceed both cumulatively, you are fine. You might need to produce both licenses of course.

IMHO, if you find yourself in the situation where a warden is rummaging around through your freezer in your home, an extra fish patty or the number of people in your household is probably irrelevant at that point. You are already past the point of being screwed…….search warrants are not issued for somebody having a pack of fish patties.
