    Hello!

Any of you guys have experience with the Lowrance Elite 5 unit? Looks pretty good to me and I am thinking about buying one. Just wondered if anyone has good/bad opinion of the unit.

Also, does anybody know if there is a micro SD mapping chip available for it with the St Croix on it>

    Much appreciated!!

i would go with the hds-5 instead of the elite 5 if i were u. has better screen color and way more upgrades possible like satilite weather, radio and structure scan linking. plus the quality is not comparible almost between the 2. and also lakemaster makes a chip for these gps units with the st. croix i believe. great product with wing dams and 1 foot contours. hope u enjoy whatever unit u decide to buy.

I just got one this spring and it works great, except for the gps. When ever i run the river(mn) it sometimes shows me running on land and not in the water, maybe its because i dont have a chip in it… if i could i would get the HDS just because its the step up. Honestly i like mine a lot and im satisfied with what i have

I’m very happy with my Elite-5. Very happy. For my purposes it is definitely not worth spending the extra money for the HDS

Yes, the Elite 5 is agood unit if your simply looking for an easy to run gps-locator. Lakemaster Wis chip would be the chip you would need to buy for the St Croix river.
