I’m having computer issues and I understand blue screen crash is a virus. Anybody got a cure? I’m also having trouble downloading udates and wonder if this is related. I can even disable my firewall and still can’t update from certain necessary sites (antimalware). I will be out of town a week so may not get on this until I get back, but sure could use some help.

Thanks for what ever you can do. Electronics sure are fun when they work and sure a pain when they don’t.

Blue Screens can be a multitude of things, some will even call it the Blue Screen of Death.

When you initially boot your computer up, there will be a code that is associated with the blue screen. If you can write down the error code, someone might be able to help you out a little farther here on the board. Just got a laptop back to a friend that had the Blue Screen and it was just a bad memory problem.

Have you installed anything lately? I think most blue screens of death now actually occur because of device driver issues.

I hope you have system restore set up and it was backed up recently.

I am shocked linux guy hasn’t popped in yet.

Im learning slowly by word of mouth and I was also haveing problems with the functions and speed of my pc. I called Staples and they suggested their fix it maintainenece program. Its called,,,Fixit utilities 10 professional,,,I loaded it and the program went through my pc and fixed eveything. This program accesses all memories, discs, broken links and the deep root systems and found the problems. Theres other programs out there that do the same but I know this one works. It constantly anylizes whats going on in the system and fixes it plus gives you the option of doing it manually whenever you want to. You can bring up the program and it shows at what percentages your pc’s running at, 0 to 100% then gives you the option to fix it right then. Im not a wiz at pc’s but mine runs good now since I’ve installed it and theres never a problem now, costs about $40.

40 bucks is cheap compared to buying a new computer or taking it in for some geek to screw up. I’ll give it a try. Thanks everybody for getting right on this.

    Fixit utilities 10 professional,

I went to Staples website and can only find version 9 which they are dumping. Should I wait or try to find a Staples store. We have none locally, but I’m traveling later today and may be able to find one.

Good luck, I hope it takes care of the issues. There is almost nothing worse than computer issues, especially when it is so frustrating. Even for me when I consider myself a computer guy.

Found it someplace else and it is on its way. I will not be using it for a week, but will post success story or not.

I also had the bluescreen of death about a year ago Northstar but fixed that another way. I still had problems with speed and occasional screen freeze so thats when I called Staples. I called and talked to thier PC techs and he asked if I had anti-virus and at that time I was running Panda anti-virus, it was working but that alone couldn’t keep my pc running right because of other problems it had, broken links etc. They suggested thier maintence program because of the feed back they had received from others that had installed it on thier PC. I bought the program and loaded it and it ran for about 1/2 hr, with occasional screen freeze but I guess thats what happens when its searching deep in the PC, things just look like they’ve stopped running but haven’t.

I loaded it about 6 months ago and I haven’t had a problem since. When you load it just let it run, it may seen like its quit running , mine did, but it didn’t and my PC was pretty messed up. When it was done a list popped up and it was a list of things that it fixed. There was dozens of things that wasen’t working right so the PC had a hard time finding what it needed to run smoothly. A Virus program is for finding and deleating viruses and spam, a maintence program is for making sure the information is all in order so the Pc runs smoother and quicker. If you just have an average PC like mine It should work for you.

Northstar forgot to mention this and its important. Disable your anti-virus you have now on your pc befor you put the new disc from Staples in your pc’s Cd rom. Your present anti-virus will conflict with the new anti-virus maintainence program combination thats on the new CD from Staples.

With the Blue screen, he will not be able to run a CD in it until resolving that. Typically, the fix is when booting, hit F8 constantly, this will bring up another screen, where you can launch in safe mode and hopefully system restore. Otherwise, there also is a toggle on the same screen to disable it trying to reboot constantly. This typically also has to be disabled. If you can google blue screen, there are some more specific instructions on how to do this. Good luck. I have had good success on occassion and not so much with Blue Screen…
