Hey guys heading up to the flowage in a couple weeks. I have an older Navionics chip in my gps that has the Flowage in 5ft contours. I’ve heard navigating the lake can be tricky. Should I look into getting something like the Lakemaster chip with 1 ft contours.

it never hurts to have the latest info. But with that said, the flowage is ever changing with the bogs and such. It may help you some, but with the higher water i think you should be fine. Also if you dont spend a good amount of time there Im not sure I would spend the extra cash just for that. As always be cautious and ask around once you get there.

I bought the latest LakeMaster chip and used for 2 weeks up on the flowage earlier this year (when the water was lower). I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t ripped my lower unit off in previous years. Spots that I had previous cruised right over turned out to be 3ft (And they were in the middle of no where). A lot of those spots also produced fish!

My two cents is that it would be worth it…if you are a routine visitor to the Chip. I know next summer I’m heading to Lake of the Woods and am struggling to decide of the extra chip is worth the price (I don’t anticipate going back yearly).

    Good luck.

It would not hurt to have a current chip.

I would also suggest stopping by Pastika’s, as they sell a map for both sides that is a great reference also…
