I don’t know if this will help but if you get reconditioned ones you can cut the cost over half. Save some major $
It depends a lot on the year. The 01-04 LB7 engines had the most problems. The 04.5-07 LBZ had very few problems and the 07.5-10 LMM very few problems. That said I just traded my 02 with 140,000 mi. with no injector problems for a 07.5 LMM. Hopefully its as good as my old one. The 01 – 04 are going to be more labor to replace because they are not on the outside of the engine. As stated before don’t buy them from the stealer get some remans and have a good diesel mechanic do the job.
DTWH, get me your VIN number, and I’ll tell you exactly how much. I work in a GM parts department.

Tim, where you working at now ?
I work at Viking Buick GMC Nissan. I am actually in the Nissan bldg, but also have the GM catalog over here as I take GM wholesale calls as well.

Could you get me a ballpark estimate,
If they are close to a $1000.00 a piece I may be just looking for another truck.
Its a 2001 GMC Duramax
If it is any consolation, Cummins injectors are around $700 ea. The mjority of times we see issues, it is when guys “chip” their trucks, which boosts pressure, over limits the injectors were designed for…

No problem. The injectors are $350 ea,and are GM remanufactured. Add another $250 for required gaskets. The valve cover gaskets are reusable, and may not need replacing, so you could deduct $200 if they were O.K. Keep in mind that there would be an additional $100 ea core charge for the injectors which you would receive back when you returned the old ones. These are all retail over the counter prices, and more and likely you could get them @ wholesale if you shopped around. That could save you 20-25%. If you have any more questions just ask.

You can’t get the existing ones cleaned and rebuilt?
This is straight from a GM bulletin;
Some customers of 2001-04 model year Chevrolet Silverado; GMC Sierra; 2003 Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick vehicles, equipped with a 6.6L Duramax Diesel (RPO LB7 – VIN Code 1) engine, may experience vehicle service engine soon (SES) light illumination, low engine power, hard start, and/or fuel in crankcase, requiring injector replacement, as a result of high fuel return rates due to fuel injector body cracks, ball seat erosion, or high pressure seal extrusion.
I would think they could be rebuilt if the injector body isn’t cracked, of course GM has them remanufactured, so, I wonder if they just replace the body,and or any other worn out or broken components.

The 04.5-05’s were LLY’s.
The 06-07.5’s were LBZ’s.
The LB7’s had the injectors under the heads and are more labor intensive to replace = $$$$.
