Frustrated with IE 8

Recently I have been getting a “Page Error Report” stating that Internet Explorer is trying to close this page and it generates the “Send Error Report?” message. (Closed circuit to Kooty…no…Have not looking at “Those” sites!) I have reinstalled IE8 and it is still doing it. I know a lot of you guys use Firefox, but that is for Mac’s right? What can I use other than IE to see if I can get around this?

I’m using Firefox right now with Windows XP Pro, and haven’t seen the problem you’re seeing.

FF is for both Mac and PC’s.

    Dump EI!!

10 minutes and you’ll have all your Bookmarks imported to the new FF!

    Easiest migration I’ve ever made!

You can try this. or just download firefox.

Done but with errors on page…

This typically has to do with the scripting or coding of a webpage. You will be unable to directly modify the code of any given website, but I suggest you try Compatibility View in Internet Explorer 8 in the off chance that it helps in viewing this particular website.

Enable Compatibility View in Internet Explorer…

To enable Compatibility View for specific Web sites that are not displayed correctly or that are not working correctly, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Web site that is not displayed correctly or that does not work correctly in Internet Explorer 8.

    2. Click the Compatibility View icon that is located directly to the right side of the address bar.

    3. Or, on the Tools menu, click Compatibility View.

Correction, it is for Windows, Mac AND Linux. Actually it is for all operating systems, that is the beauty of open source. Do yourself a favor and ditch IE.

Better yet, ditch Windows and install Linux Mint, it has Firefox preloaded, and the price is right.

Google Chrome for me nice fast, works pretty good, every once in awhile I run across something that doesn’t work perfect, and I switch to IE, but that’s few and far between.

Firefox it is! Jami, I was getting so many IE errors that it would have been too labor intensive.

Let’s see how this works. Thanks!!

Another user off of IE, THANK YOU!! Doing web-design I run into nothing but problems with IE, and to ad to that IE 6, 7, and 8 all have their own major issues…

You’ll enjoy Firefox, if your interested try “Google Chrome” too, its another great browser

I do web design as well. Don’t you hate having to write a seperate CSS for IE6?

I have seen people running Vista who have had trouble with IE8. So if you have Vista or XP you should still be able to uninstall IE8 and go back to IE7. I would still install the Firefox and set it as your default browser. There is also an add on for Firefox called IE tab plus which lets you change the rendering engine in Firefox to IE on the fly in case of an incompatible web page.

I use Google Chrome exclusively. There’s been very few times I’ve had to use Firefox or IE. Chrome has been the fastest and most consistent for me at work and at home.

I code and design and I use a get out of jail pass. “This site best viewed with FireFox”.

Back on topic, I’d definitely dump IE all together.

I like that, I should start using it! Although I did convince the bosses to stop supporting IE6 so I’m pretty happy with that.

How long did it take you to install and transfer your settings Tuck?

Only a couple minutes surprisingly! Part of the install is a question to “Import your Internet Explorer Settings and Homepage?” Bang, Zoom! Done! No more error pages!!

Got rid of Microsoft’s IE and you are this impressed, think about how impressed you would be to get rid of all Microsoft products.

Here I go on a Linux vs Windows rant again…sorry guys.

After reading comments about Firefox thought I would give it a try, even thou IE8 had been working fine. After installing FF it did not want to import my favorites. How can I get FF to import them?

I believe you can probably export your favorites from IE8 too, puts them in a nice useable text file, pretty slick actually.
