I was fishing this last weekend and noticed that my lowrance LCX20C would not mark bottom all the time, the depth would just flash the last reading it had. At first I thought it was just because I was fishing deep water 65+ fow but then today when I went out, fishing in only 15fow, again it was still doing it and noticed that now the graph showed vertical lines in addition to the flashing depth. what could be wrong with it?

Check and angle of the transducer or the transducer may have gone bad.

When it is going haywire actually reach down in the water and feel the bottom of the ducer. If working you will feel a slight tapping. The tap can be different frequencies but it should be constant for some time.
Might also check voltage at the head unit, its a slight posability as well -Mark

Make sure all your settings are set good, just to double check. I have had kids get into a customers boat and do some real crazy adjustments(head scratcher). I have seen transducer’s bad that will pulsate on the bottom. Most likely the transducer is bad. Try going to your dealer and see if they will let you try a new one. Hook up the new one and just hold the transducer in the water to test .

I just had the same problem with my Eagle my problem was the female plug on the back side of the finder/graph theres a 6 star pattern on this type plug the brass sleeve broke off inside(female side)! I called Lowrance & they sent me a new one. Actuallt what they sent me was new transducer & leads to power & finder. I just got online & called there customer service number & they hooked me up with the right people. hope this helps!!!
