My wife informed me that she would be interested in buying a permanent RV site and camper perhaps as soon as next year, anyone know of a good website for that or who to contact about it? We are looking in the 2-3 hour away from home type, and home is Zumbrota, MN. Closer is okay, but just looking for a place for the kids to play all day and maybe get some fishing done if at all possible. The boundaries are probably Alexandria, to the pond, any leads for me would be great! Thanks

Go on “Craigslist” and type in either “Camground” or “resort” or somethings on those lines and see what they have to offer….GOOD LUCK…We’re thinking about the same thing….

We have a 5th wheel on a permanent site in on the Chain of Lakes in Chetek Wis. Been there 10 years and really like the Chain of Lakes. If you are interested in that area, let me know.

We have a lot at sherwood forest Right accross the street from Mille lacs. It has a new pool, tennis court, minni golf, horse shoe and fish cleaning shack. The way they work it is you buy the lot and pay [censored]. fees. right now they are $900.00 a year that includes usage of all listed above, water and electricity. That price includes a 4 year $100.00 payment for the new pool. The lot that we have is 40×90 and is on thier web site under propeties. The taxes per year is $40.00. Most seasonal sites I have seen are between $1100.00 to $2200.00 A year plus you pay elec.

Couple of things to look for.

How tight do they jam the units in? Seems these days you could pee on the neighbors deck from your door in alot of resorts. Some places are just jamming them in. Add at least one vehicle and usually a boat trailer around and things get pretty tight.

Next, check for a bar / restaurant and tent camping. If it’s mixed in your campground you can kiss your sleep goodbye.

Last, walk down and check out the dock situation. Would you be comfortable leaving your boat and gear down there over night? Or will you be pulling the boat everyday.

My seasonal is a 4 hour drive each way. It’s a long hike but I have room, can leave the boat and gear at the water and feel pretty safe. Best of all it’s Federal water so no jet ski’s are allowed and to this point no cruisers.

Best thing to do is go look at them now. See what they are like when they are full during peak season. They all look great empty and your neighbors are perfect when they aren’t there.

Lots of things to consider. But to those of us who can’t afford a cabin, seasonals are the way to go if you can afford them.
