Who needs a mix? back in the day we used to buy a bottle and throw the cap away
Why anyone would want to pollute perfectly good Whisky by dumping soda pop into it is beyond me. Maybe a little ice, maybe a splash of spring water, but pop? Yuck.

Found this answer on the web:
The original drink is not an alcoholic beverage at all, it’s just soda. I think it goes back about 50 years or so. When people were having “parties” and neighbors were invited, there was always a few Presbyters and/or non-drinkers that were invited too. Presbyters do not consume alcohol, coffee, blah, blah, blah. So, to be social, someone( I suspect a Bartender) came up with a mix of Ginger Ale and Club Soda that “looked” like a Rye and Soda. That way they could hang at the party and “blend” with something that looked like a drink yet not consume Alcohol. If you make one of these N/A drinks some time and set it next to a 7&7 or Rye & Ginger, you’ll see how much they look alike.
Somewhere along the line a partier must have gotten one of those by accident and just added some Rye Whisky to “improve” it,lol. Thus we have the Presbyterian Highball! And, as I’m sure you’ve been able to figure out, it’s a less sweet drink than a Rye and Ginger is.
You’ll find that most people that order one will simply say; “I’ll have a Press/Presbyterian please” or “I’ll have a Rye Press/Presbyterian please”. And, most often it’ll be someone a little more “mature” than a 20-something.
That’s why I call it Jameson and a splash. Or a Jamo/splash.
No need to confuse anyone.
Water and Carbonated (soda) Water is a Press.
Water and 7-up is typically referred to a a Sweet Press. (since the 7up has sugar in it)
Why would anyone want to drink Windsor? Windsor’s only good for washing your feet in. Crown Royal on the rocks is the only way to go jerr
BK:
In the survey both are correct!!! I trained my staff to ask for the preference of the press, either press or water press.
A press is a mix using something to tone down the sweet of the 7. As noted above either soda/charged water/sparkling water or water are used. Never use tonic!!! A press can be used in either a highball or an old fashion. Any liquor can be used to make the press. A highball usually has one oz. of liquor in a served setting, generally more at home. An old fashion includes bitters as a flavoring additive and features an ounce and a half to two oz of liquor depending on the size of the glass used and is then garnished with fruit, olive, etc.
I’m in for anything and a splash, cpetey!!!

Yes,but I dont think you track straight when using Crown Royal Jerr.
A guy walks into a bar and asks for a shot of John Daniels.
The bartender says,” Don’t you mean Jack Daniels?”
The guy says” When you know him as good as I do,
you can call him John”
Thank You very much!! I’ll be here all week!!

X2
Now Crown Royal Cask#16 X4
thats what I’m talking about
But Royal Crown Cola is so hard to find now a days.
I looking at the voting split, it’s no wonder a person can’t just ask for a *** press. Since a person has to ask for a “soda press” or a “water press”…and 1/3 of the time we’ll have to explain what a “press” is…we might as well skip the press part and just ask for a **** water/soda and 7-up.
Guess I can’t give Jeff at the Bluffs so much crap now.
Back in the days when I used to drink, I liked to drink shots of Whisky. The problem was getting your average Minnesota barkeep to set one up. The conversation usually went like:
Him: What can I get you?
Me: Whisky
Him: You mean a Whisky-Seven ?
Me: No, Whisky
Him: You mean Whisky and Water?
Me: No, just Whisky, OK?
Him: So you want ice with that?
Me: Look, just pour some Whisky into a shot glass and give it to me.
It’s easier to open a checking account in a strange town…

A press is squeezing the open bottle top under your armpit to clean the bottle after the snoose chewing vixen next to you has had a slug from the bottle……
