I’ve got a 14 foot aluminum boat and screwed bildge pump with auto float switch to 5/8 inch treated plywood. How can I get that to stick to my hull without running screws through and creating leaks? I bought a two part epoxy designed for aluminum and it worked for a while but then let go of the plywood.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Can you screw a piece of aluminum to the bottom of the plywood, that way the alum epoxy may work better….??? Another thought, what kind of seats do you have ??? If they are bench, then a “L” bracket screwed to it….. pic’s would defintely help

Should be able to silicon or 5200 that board to the boat if you rough up the aluminum with a bit of sanding before. I just lay mine in and don’t glue them down. not sure if it’s critical or not…

The epoxy should have held… YOu could try putting several short screws into the wood from the bottom up and leaving just a portion of the head exposed. that would give the epoxy something to hold on to. Otherwise you could put the pump on some pvc instead or put a couple short l-brackets on there and screw those to the wood and epoxy the brackets to the hull. If all else fails, use some duct-tape.

    Hey Stuwest
Mine is just laying there now and its not been a problem so Thanks for the input. It doesn’t seem to float when it rains and the pump runs even though the plywood is there…

Hey Trumar, I got a couple of ideas from other posts so should be OK, otherwise I’ll send some photos. I am sending a photo to you since I’ll never sent one before on this site. Seems to work, hope you get it.

Big G I’ll mount the pump to a pice of aluminum- I can get some but have to track it down and had the plywood handi so went that direction. Good input because I can use thin-1/4 or 3/32 and will pick up more than on top of 5/8″ plywood.
