Any one have any experience with the ‘hot foot’ throttle?
Most of you know I’m now in the boat shopping mode and looking around on the internet I’ve seen this more than a few times. Thanks…

They’re not too expensive, and well worth it. Just a nice convenience.

Best thing I’ve ever had on a boat. Besides being convienent its a great saftey feature. With hotfoot both hands are on the wheel! I would also recomend a blinker or wheel type trim switch too.

As mentioned before, it’s a great safety feature in that you can keep both hands on the wheel. It also will take your boat down to idle speed should you fall out of the drivers seat (if you forget to attach your kill switch).

The other thing that is really great about the hotfoot is boat speed control on bigger water. When the waves are big and rolling, the hotfoot gives you more ability to throttle up the waves and let it down easy on the back side. It makes it easier to stay on top of the waves as opposed to slapping down the back side of waves. I’ll never own another boat without a hotfoot.

Absolutely a necessity on any cockpit style boat. What sort of rig are you looking at? Not sure how well it would work on a swivel seat drivers station. Absolutely necessary on a high performance boat that rides on the pad. +1 on the blinker trim as well, both hands on the wheel provide a huge improvement on safety especially when running in rough water or high boat traffic areas.

The only negative thing I have to say about the Hot Foot (and I don’t have one, but a friend does), is that if you stand up behind the wheel, or kneel on your seat when powerloading on the trailer, you can’t reach the foot petal. Otherwise, in terms of safely running across the lake, it works great.
If anyone has other comments or suggestions regarding power-loading with a Hot Foot, let’s hear them!

Geeze. I had no idea. I’ve been searching the i-net all over and I came across a rig I want in Indianapolis, IN. I’m real excited to have found this rig.

It’s another Javelin and it has this feature ‘hot foot’ on it already.
So just had to ask, knowing the IDO faithful would know and offer opinion and help. It’s a re-po boat, so it’s stripped.Otherwise in very good condition. It’s a 2001 w/200Evinrude. I have salvaged all my rigging off my ‘totaled’ rig which should be good to go right on….

    Thanks for all the positives.
    IDO still ROCKS!
