I was at Gander Mountain today and I saw these rods on sale for 70 dollars. Before I purchase any of them. I was wondering if anyone here has any of these rods and what you think of them. Thanks for any feedback.

Great rod for the price! I have 2 of them and use them almost every time I go out. The 6’6″ medium works great for everything.

Might want to check with the guy that stole my decoder ring at Everts, Dean. Some of the Triumphs retail at less than $70.
July 2, 2010 at 1:38 pm #884190Overall, they are solid performers.Much of a persons satisfaction with a rod however is getting the correct action for the job needed regardless of the namebrand stamped on the rod..If you have been using inexpensive combo pricepoint products you will be thrilled. If you have rods in the Avid or IMX quality or better you will be dissapointed in comparing that to a triumph.
In the few years they have been out,the actions have been very consistant from rod to rod,and have had very few warranty issues thus far.
If you are a X-fast action fan as many of us river anglers are,the Mojo lineup offers a 69mlxf and a 68mxf, another option to consider in that price range.Give us a shout if we can be of help to ya!

I have one of the ultra lights and have not been very happy with it. Doesn’t have a very good feel and is just too whippy. Have not tried any of the heavier rods as I am kind of partial to the Avids when it comes to walleye rods.
I was under the impression that most ultra light rods are whippy. I love mine!

The one I have is extra whippy, or at least compared to all my other ultra light rods. I like a little bit of backbone and the triumph seems to have none at all in comparison to my other UL rods.
July 2, 2010 at 7:10 pm #884256I tried one of these and did not like it at all. I believe that these rods are not made by St. Croix. I was told they outsource these rods to China to be built. I also do not believe they have the same warranty as other St. croix rods. ( I may be wrong about one or both of these statements – I’m sure someone here will correct me if I am )It may depentd on what you want to use it for. I just did not think it was a very sensitive rod. ( That may not matter depending on what application you are using it for. Don’t get me wrong I’m a big fan of St. Crouix rods I just did not think this rod was the quality and sensitivity that I expect from St. Croix.

Initially, they were made in China to compete with the many other price point rod brands that are private labeled overseas. St Croix was not satisfied either with the product consistancies being produced. As of last year, they started their own mft facility in North America, Mexico. With the Park Falls facility production being maxed out, this was there attempt obtain a quality price point product line which includes the Mojo Bass line-up.The warranty is 5 years on these product lines.
Wthout a doubt an Avid or Legend Xtreme with a lifetime warranty will always be my personal first choice. But it is always good to have options and everyone has different priorities and budgets that they have to work in.
