Looking to get a set-up that will allow me to do some outside fish fries. Have seen some nice 2 burner set-ups that other people have but haven’t been able to find something commercially. I am planning to use cast iron pans. Any leads on something?

Gave my dad a Camp Chef dual burner last year for father’s day and it works great!

I bought a Camp Chef from Sportsmans when they closed out, bought a longer hose and fittings and now use it outside my 5th wheel. I ordered the trailer with a quick disconnect propane hook-up and unless the weather’s really bad I don’t do any cooking inside the trailer. Great stove, puts out plenty of heat for keeping oil hot when deep frying fish jerr

I would say the fish/turkey fryer is a great way to go. Make sure you have a thermometer and a good basket or long handled tongs and you should be good to go.

I found that most of the burners do not put out enough heat to keep a big cast iron pan at 375 degrees, especially in the MN winters. In my last home I tossed the burner off my BBQ grill and put in a “natural gas hot water heater” burner rated at 40,000 BTU. The burner was free at our local recycling place. It worked great and the hot peanut oil made the fish very crispy.

If you want to skip the LP and do it on wood, let me know. I use a gassifier wood stove and have access to ‘scratch and dents’ for much cheaper than new. Neat stoves to do this on, but need power fyi. This is what I do maple sap every year, that stuff will cause you to go broke quick with LP! CZ

I use the base for my trukey cooker and a big cast iron pan I got at cabela’s, it works great Toss a wood match in the oil and when it lights up, your oil is ready to go.
