I use Numbers on my iPad, and I do take it on the water with me.

    I love it.

I am in the process of converting my handwritten log into an Excel spreadsheet (I’m finally up to early 2006). I haven’t yet played around much with it but I am looking forward to be able to sort by water body, date, water temp, etc.. I’ve looked at other electronic logs and have decided to just go with Excel.

Numbers is one of the iWork apps available thru the Apple Store for your iPad. You can get Numbers (spreadsheet), Pages (word processor) and Keynote (presentations). They roughly equate to Excel, Word and PowerPoint on your average business computer.

I use a Numbers spreadsheet to track my catches… it’s nice to be able to easily do things like calculate average measurements, average weight, date ranges, etc., on the fly.

Anyway, I have my iPad with me pretty much everywhere I go (it’s an extension of my brain these days…) so it’s only natural to use it for this too.

    The Pro Fishing Log
I set high standards with a name like that. Actually you’ll see the domain change to fishingmnreports.com once you get there. Since it is new and there aren’t a lot of reports, I thought it would turn more people away, so it will be going back to profishinglog.com soon.

If you sign up, you can go to The PFX Fishing Log App by clicking the link, because it is ‘hidden’ right now. I am going to throw up 2 screencasts about how to use the app correctly before providing a link to the app.

And yes, it is free. Well, free to everyone else, I pay the hosting.

I use a log application I wrote. It is an application you install locally on your computer. I went with a windows forms app because I like to have my data local. Who knows what happens to it after you put it on the web

I have a little more work to do on the installer/SQL and then I might get some IDO folks trying it out. I’ll post a link to hte download when it’s available.

I know for a fact that Pug sells my waypoints and other information…how else does he pay for the bandwidth!

OK..I’m kidding. His site gives the option of Public or Private.
