Anyone know what the plan is? or when the Hastings Public launch will be repaired? Who repairs it? DNR? Hastings Public Works? Core of Engineers?

i asked a dnr employee a few weeks ago, and he basically told me “don’t hold your breath”. who knows how valid this info is, but he said the DNR wants the city to fix it, and the city wants the DNR to fix it.
it will probably never get fixed…not for a while anyways.
the sturgeon lake access is all FUBAR’d from this spring too.

I shot about a minute of video of these guys giving it full throttle, and I started the video about 3 minutes into their sharade (sp). My question is does the guy bouncing on the back off set the weight of the guy in the bow
June 13, 2010 at 10:17 pm #879592People just can not figure out how to trailer their boat on that landing!! They learn how in calm water and then try the current.!!!! Usually on a busy day. I avoid it on the weekends. They can not even figure out what no parking signs mean or (as the signs say) parking in designated parking only. Its a joke down there on weekends.
Last I heard nothing was going to be done during the summer months.
June 14, 2010 at 1:14 am #879613I have an email from the city explaining what they are going to do with that ramp. I’ll have to dig to see if i can find it.
i do remember that it won’t get fixed this year……

yes, there a lot of idiots down there, but the ramp is messed up, because half of it washed away from the spring flood. and the “good” half is messed up too.
June 14, 2010 at 12:55 pm #879660From the Parks and Rec Director
I have inspected the boat launch with our Parks Maintenance Supervisor and members from the DNR trails and waterways division on Thursday of this week. I am sure you noticed that the upstream access of the ramp has been closed. During our meeting, it seems as if park of the western side or up steam ramp has literally broken off. Unfortunately, our fix for this season will be to stabilize the broken section to minimize any further compromise of the downstream side of the launch, but for the remainder of this season, most likely, the upstream side of the boat launch will remain closed.
I will be working with the DNR for a more permanent fix to the boat launch.
Thank you!
June 14, 2010 at 10:27 pm #879947Don’t hold your breath, anyone think the genius’s that voted to put in that $400,000 floating dock that holds 3 boats south of the access can put their pea brains together and come up with a solution? Oh wait I almost forgot, that dock is bringing boatloads of people to the starving downtown area……….what a waste

oh, you mean the dock that is so convenient to tie your boat up to, while you park your truck?
June 16, 2010 at 4:57 am #880393What a waste, I wish they would rebuild the entire luach area, they have enough land all around it. I wish they would cut a harbor into the shore, and put a dock in there that we could actually use… Maybe someday in my lifetime they will get it right…
