Closest landing to the head of Pepin

Which landing is the closest to the head of lake Pepin? A road or brief directions would be great. Does it have a doc? How much parking is available? I have only went out of the landing next to the pickle factory. How long of a ride is it to get to the head of the lake from there?

    Thanks,

There is also one in bay city, but it is kind of shallow, Havent been there for a while to see how deep it is, but it is a nice landing

Colville would be my personal choice as you have plenty of safe parking, a dock and no issues with depth as you access the channel.

The entrance to the park is underneath the highway. I’ve attached a Lakemaster screen shot of the GPS coordinates if you have a nav system in your vehicle. These will take you right there.

As for distance to the head of the lake… Lakemaster shows 4.5 Miles, roughly, all of which is in the main navigation channel once you leave Colville.

There used to be 10 PM park closing signs in place and I know the couple years we had the IDO get together down there we had to be out by 10 PM. I have no idea how closely it is enforced now or if those signs are still in place.

Well I could’ve made a nicer post, but I was on my phone at the time of the post (so hot links don’t really work), no worries the IDO team stepped up and filling in all the extra info.

Team effort as far as I’m concerned. When three guys post up with the same or similar info that gives confidence to trust the info. As for your info specifically, Nick, you’re one of the more consistently helpful guys we’ve ever had around. From a bunch of us… thank you.

Very shallow coming out of Bay City. I would certainly suggest Covill if your new to the area.

How’s the one across the river from Red Wing? I think it’s called Island Marina or is that the wrong direction?

Nick I wasn’t bashing you at all. I hope it wasn’t taken that way. I was just saying how great it is in general to get such quick good responses. The fact that someone gave the coords was just a bonus. Thanks again for the help guys.

No not at all, I was just saying how impressed I am of the quality of post made here, I knew someone would pickup the “slack” and post some better details.
