And I never do that. I lost a monster tonight on Lake Onalaska. Actually I’ve managed to screw the pooch on 4 or 5 really good fish in the last 3 evenings, but one sticks out for sure. Pulling a silver minnow parallel to shore in about 3FOW and all of a sudden a wake big enough to swamp a jon boat appears behind the bait. It hits like a freight train, feels like I set the hook into a brick wall, makes one enormous boil, comes unbuttoned and is gone. I got just the most fleeting glimpse of it, but not good enough to identify. This is one of those fish that’s gonna eat at me for quite a while, and sleep is not gonna come easy tonight.

If it makes you feel better, I lost a giant bass on Lake Onalaska last night as well…

At least you were out fishing

I was sitting in the boat in the garage, getting it ready for bass opener, thinking about hooking a big one.
    You did
It is still swimming out there and waiting for you

I like the Johnson Silver minnow prefer( Miller Wobbler ) I have lost more fish on the Johnson silver minnow for me it`s hard to get a fish hooked up on it.

You don’t need an excuse to drink alone

Aah alcohol. To quote from the great philosopher, Homer Simpson. “To alcohol! The cause of — and solution to — all of life’s problems!”

Funny that you mention that. I’ve been throwing a lot of random stuff this year and I actually found a couple Miller Wobblers in my box and was throwing one for a bit the other day. Nice looking bait but it only produced a dogfish but I will give it some more time in the water. As for the hooking percentage, I’m gonna try a trailer hook with part of a rubber worm rigged to hopefully keep it weedless.

I’m going back after her tonight. Ahab out.

If you caught every fish that bit, it would not be a challenge. This is what keeps you going back. I also understand the pain of losing a big one.
