I have an elder retired couple on fixed income which lives next to me in need of central air for his health reasons.

My question is …Is it possible one can purchase a used C/A unit?

Also,is there somewhere they can start to look for help on making their bathroom handicap accessible, the way it sounds he will be confined to a wheelchair very soon.

Their house is a smaller 1.5 story one, maybe less than 840 sf and have a new furnace set up for C/A

Any and help is much appreciated….

    Thanks Jeff

Used A/C’s are a risky gamble, especially if you don’t know the past history on them.

Maybe try and find a scratch and dent sale?

Or if money is really tight a window unit to at least cool a room or two.

Good luck, most the guys I knew that worked on the side quit because of liability and the sue crazed attitude people now have.

I used a window unit at my old home in St Paul that was about 1100 sq ft and not exactly air tight.

It kept up on all but 100 degree days and still kept the home noticably cooler than the outside on the hottest days.

It might be worth a try, they are cheap and install in minutes.
