    So I was out fishing yesterday and saw all the crappies on beds, is it the males or female on the beds?

    If they were jet black I would say they are males, lighter colored ones are females most of the time.

    Typically the males swarm the beds. Females are in & out. They have a tendency to hang off nearby breaks into deeper water. You can easily distinguish the sex. Males will turn black. They’re very aggressive & vulnurable. Please use selective harvest.

    Both the dark and lighter ones are on the beds by me But neither will bite anything!

    All depends…were they right smack dab in the middle of the bed with their fins stretched out in every direction (females), or were they clinging to one tiny little corner kinda half in and half out of the bed (males)?
