I’ll be outta touch til early next week, heading over to NW Wisconsin BASS Fishing since MN does not seem to realize how much Revenue they lose to diehard Bass Guys like me that spend their Money fishing similar lakes in Wisconsin for the Large and Smallmouth Bass.
I know this should not be a Revenue but a Biological Based study to set our seasons. Why besides some old-timers story that the Bass Season in MN was set to allow 2-openers to help the old ma-n-pa resorts get people up North twice each Spring does MN continue the old season opening dates?
I would like to see an accurate poll of how many guys and Bass Clubs Fish Wisconsin in May and how much Revenue MN loses. Especially considering we have a $3Billion Dollar Budget hole that by next year I have heard say will be $9-$11-Billion. No, we cannot fill that kind of budget hole, maybe our Representative and Senator better start talking with the DNR and Economists as to how to keep some of that lost money in Minnesota. That couldn’t even raise our license fee’s when every poll I read had Fishermen favoring a increase in the 80-90% range. We, the users/Fishermen say, YES, increase our Fee’s to help our Sport and they said NO!
Time to really watch who we Vote for this Fall.
Can the DNR Prove that May Fishing for Bass would hurt the Fisheries?
Fishing is as good if not better in many of their (Wisconsin) Lakes for Bass as similar lakes across the river back here in Minnesota.
The BASS fishing has not been hurt over there by early fishing beginning the 1st weekend in May and in many cases I think its better.
Yet, in Minnesota we cannot fish Bass until Memorial weekend.
I owe, I owe, so off to fish I go!i
(I am lucky, I was given a Temp. Layoff Notice last Friday, so Now I get to go fishing during my favorite time of year.)
Wish me Luck and Safety.

PS: In my vivid dreams I will get to fish Bass in Minnesota in the wonderful Month of May.
