My wife, daughter and I are camping at William O’Brien State Park this weekend. I’ve never been there before and would like to take my daughter fishing for a bit. Since it will be from a canoe and I’ve never been on the St. Croix that far north, I’m pretty clueless what I will find.

I don’t really care what species, I just would like to put her on some fish. Any suggestions or directions are appreciated. Thanks.

The little lake that is right in the state park is loaded with gills, a ton of small ones that hang out right around the fishing dock waiting to be caught by some kids

Bring some white Paddle tails or twister tails and jigs. These should work well for white bass. Look for them surface feeding early in the morning or late day. Other wise search out shoreline current breaks. If I remember rite there are some nice breaks just north of the park by the houses. Check just down river from the park to along the mn side towards Marine on St Croix.

A night crawler laying on the bottom is always a good bet for fish to.

    Hello,

I recomend a nightcrawler on bottem. I’ve caught almost every species of fish in the state with a nightcrawler on the bottem.
    Good Luck!
