So my wife and I found a baby mallard in the yard. I live about a 1/4 mile from any water. So the wife stayed with the duck and I walked around the neighborhood to look to see if I could find any other duck around. No luck. So now we have a baby duck. I have called around the area for a wildlife rescue to take it, and again no luck. So I did get alot of people that where willing to tell me how to take care of it. So now we have a bin, bedding, heat lamp and food. If anyone one has a farm or other baby birds and are willing to take it, that would be great. I think we could take care of it, but not the way it should be. I live in the quad city area. PM me if you would like it. If not I officially have a zoo in my house with 2 dogs a cat some fish and now a baby duck.

    When is Muskie opener.

    Alright…I was kidding.

Without the fear of humans or the ability to find food, you might have a friend for life. Then just wait until it starts flying in your house.

Might want to check out some parks and find a mother with some young ones. Maybe one of them will adopt this one.

This same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I took care of that Mallard and raised him. He turned out pretty good and took off flying all by himself. I was just going to eat him in the fall. Then he took off for good. He must have felt my hunger. That duck came back to my house for 2 years! And then one fall he was gone. I think he must have got shot……

Anyway you raise him chances are he will come back with more.
