You might want to check into saving about $20 a month.

I’ve been paying $42. a month for High Speed access for years now. I think it runs $49. per month, then with cable and phone they give me a discount for having all three.

The other night I called to inquire about some out of the ordinary charges and the nice young lady and I started talking about optimizing my Comcast experience.

She told me there was a BASIC internet plan that would save me about $20 per month. Half of what I was paying. But she said it was slower than what I had. She changed it while I was on the phone and I checked out IDO, YouTube videos and a host of other high bandwidth sites. I couldn’t tell the difference. There was an additional $1.99 charge for the change in service that she would wave if I asked her too.

    Thank you Comcast Lady!

Between this savings of about $240. per year and not buying heaters…I’m starting to feel like I can afford some new taxes.

Do you know what download/upload speed you were at compared to where you’re at now?

Not that the change still isn’t more than enough bandwidth, but with that drastic of a price difference I’m curious

I was looking on the comcast site for a comparison…I can’t find anything about their Basic service, just the High Speed.

its not slower, they just reduced your bandwidth. you will notice a difference when you download something.

with this big savings, your stinkbait collection should be top notch!

That’s why I went to YouTube. I would have thought there would have been a problem there if there would have been one.

It’s going to cost me another $1.99 to have it switched back if I find I have issues…well, I have issues but you know what I mean!

As mentioned above when it comes to download its a pain….I did the bandwith reduction and now with Itunes just plain sucks, its very noticable with the smaller bandwith. Other than downloading it works great. I will sacrifice a slower download for more money in my pocket.

    Ah HA!

The FW isn’t going to like slower Itunes….I just won’t tell her.

    Thanks Cal.

Brian, you wont notice the slower connections speed if you’re on IDO most of the time.

Usually it’s a Channel cat that snots up a line…fight perty good for the size don’t they?

Makes a person wonder why they fish for walleyes.

    Really good fight…I can’t imagine a 40lber fight. I didn’t touch it….ish
Funny thing is that we pulled 2 walleyes, sauger, sheephead, and 2 flatheads off the same spot. Never know what you will catch in the mighty mississippi…

Already done the reduced bandwith, if you were gaming I’d say no don’t do it, but since I quit Mech Warrior I found I get by just fine with the cheaper rate.

Every few years we call and see how to reduce our cable bill, we have both TV and innernet and it does get spendy.

    What pool were you fishing?

There must have been something there beside you that they liked.

With comcast using a CABLE Internet system, what time of day did you try this [[Early morning/evening (6-9am/3-8pm) or mid-day/late night (10am-2pm/10pm-5am) ]?

With Cable Internet systems it is like using a the hot water in a house designed poorly. I.E.: When you are alone and taking a shower you get plenty of pressure and hot water, but try it when your wife is washing breakfast dishes, your teanager and you are both trying to take a shower and someone start a load of laundry. Your pressure now is slowed to a trickle.

Good Luck, anytime you can cut their rates, just means more fishing gear.

Come on…tell the truth. There’s no flatheads on Pool 2.

    No ones listening anyway.

Brian, being a responsible person that I am, I feel I should pay my property tax prior to committing these funds to new ventures.

Ok then I won’t even tell you what happened later, dam flatheads take you right into the nasty wood snags, somehow the cat gets off the line and your crank is now buried in the nasty snags….. ish

The only time I will target catfish is if I get an invite from Mr Catfish himself..(aka bk) . We were testing out some new water/current seems and stumbled into a few flats as well as saugers/walleye…
