Trying to listen to the Twins today (5-3 Twins after 7) I swear John Gordon has got to be the worse radio guy I’ve heard. Please don’t come here and rip Gladden, he has only been doing it a few years and he is light years ahead of Gordon!

A good announcer should be able to paint the picture of the play as though you were at the game watching it. Gordon stops, starts, corrects himself, restarts, corrects himself ect, ect. Terrible.

    But……………the Twins are rolling!!

How can you not like Gordo? He’s getting a little long in the teeth give him a break. As I recall Harry Carey wasn’t so great in his last 10 years either but, then again, he was drunk 75% of the time.

I agree, Gordo is terrible. At one point late in the game he said the tigers CF misjudged a flyball and you assume that means he didn’t catch it by the tone of his voice. Three seconds later he says he made the catch. If anyone heard the game you know what I’m talking about.

I think if he was drunk that may be a little more fun or at least an excuse. In this case it is just bad broadcasting.

I know Gladden is relatively new and he is better than Gordon but he sucks too. To me its like saying Carlos Gomez was better than Alexi Casilla, it’s all relative. I want Herb Carneal back.

Where’s Halsey Hall???? Get him back in the box!!!!

“Halsey always enjoyed a good cigar,” Herb Carneal once said. “Unfortunately, those weren’t the kind he smoked.”

Halsey’s cigar once caused more than minor discomfort for his broadcast partners. During a game in Chicago in 1968, the ashes of Halsey’s cigar ignited a large mass of ticker tape wire that had piled up on the press box floor. Smoke drifted upward and Halsey turned to see his sport coat, which was draped over his chair, in flames. The fire was brought under control, but not before a large hole had been burned in his jacket.

What is funny is how the KSTP guys used to rip Gordo UNTIL the Twins went to KSTP. Now I’m sure they rip him during commercial breaks. I miss Herb; but Gordon is ok. Likable fellow. Gladden is real good compared to Jack Morris who doesn’t seem to have much to say when he is filling in as the color guy.

I grew up on Harry Carey. Hated it when he jumped ship from the Cardinals. I don’t listen on the radio and I’m getting like my dad, just turn off the sound and watch.

Sure fun to watch these days.
