My wife and I are considering getting Curves. I am interested in info on how well they tether. We would consider getting rid of our home internet provider…because they suck! Which is a whole other issue.

I guess I am also looking for overall satisfaction with this phone.

    Thanks,

I wouldn’t recommend doing that. There are better phones than the BB. My wife and I have them and they are the biggest pile of s_ _ _ we have ever owned. If you get them buy the model WITHOUT the track ball. Here are the problems we have/had. Four new track balls (they pop out and don’t pop back in) one antenna replacement, one burnt out screen, countless freeze ups, phone signal will just disappear while you never move, countless time when the phone just won’t ring when someone calls. When they do work they are nice but I would look at some thing a little more reliable. I think the BB is one of the most over rated phones out there….. Not sure who your provider is but I have sprint and those are some of the problems I’ve had.

I have the blackberry curve 8330. i love it, i have almost had it for 2 years and i haven’t had any problems. i know some people say they have problems with the track ball, but i haven’t had that. everything has worked great. they keep great battery life, and i seem to always have service. i have verizon. my next phone will be a blackberry for sure. that’s just my opinion.

Verizon and the curve here. I use it to tether at home as I am not home much and a additional dsl charge is not in the budget. The tethering option works remarkably well IMO. Our dsl provider leaves a bit to be desired as well,so the speed isnt all that much of an issue in comparison. The phone has been very reliable for me thus far.

Funny how that goes, I am counting down the days until I can get out of the Blackberries, I started with Curves and the trac ball was a nightmare as was the signal strength. Then they (Verizon) set me up with Storms when they came out as Mr. 20 year old Verizon store manager said the signal and reliability was better. I am to the point I am so mad I just don’t care anymore. I have to agree BlackBerry has no future with me but due to my location I have only one choice and that is Verizon.

As for tethering it does work ok but I had better luck with a wireless card as the phone would often malfunction midway through my work and disconnect for no reason.

Verizon and a BB Curve here and love it. Great reception and no problems going on 2 years.

Sprint and black berry here! I am having double thoughts about it. I am looking to get a different phone when my chance to comes to change my phone. I haven’t had any trackball issues, but I have had my phone lock up, then also send out a ton of trash emails, because some how someone hacked my email account and sent it from my phone. not sure what I am going to get into next, but I am sure it will be some kind of or version of a blackberry. I also have went from using hte phone internet to using the chettah hot spot from sprint, I like it, its a little bit slower than cable, but a touch cheaper.
