Just regestered for the web sight but have viewed it from time to time and found it interesting and informative. But thats enough sucking up. Here’s the deal every once and a while the gps quits on my 520 c and i get the gps module not responding message on the screen. some time it’s out for minutes and some times it stays out for hours. The unit was purchased in 08 and that fall tech support tested the antenna and said it was defective and mailed a new one. Guess what 09 same problem was told by tech support was possibly a bad ground. rewired the unit directly to the battey. when that did’nt solve the problem they said the antenna was mounted too cloes to the unit moved it same problem. After a few more trips it arreared that the unit failed on warm sunny days. So on the phone to lowrance again i told them that i suspected it was a heat issue and they said thay said they would repair it under warranty because the original problem had’nt been resolved. Well guess what they sent it back with another new antenna and said they found no trouble but they did up grade the softwear. 2010 have been out 4 or 5 times had issues all but one day and it was cooler and windy. Guess i’ll be on the phone with tech support again but i thought maybe some one may have had similar problems. Thanks for letting me vent and i really do enjoy the site.

My only trouble with this unit has been in specific areas. It is not random for me. Anytime I’m on the MN side near Red Wing dam it goes out and the GPS does not connect to the satellites. Same just north of I94 bridge, MN side on St. Croix. I always assume I’m losing the south facing sight lines to the sky.

My lcX-27 would do the same thing every once in a great while, but my lms-520 would continue to work just fine. They shared the same GPS puck. Now, this may sound like I’m drunk on a Friday night and making stuff up, but I had a 2008 lakemaster chip in the 27, and a 2007 chip in the 520. If I switched chips, it would come right back on the 27 and the 520 would still be fine. After the third time of that happening, I left them switched with the older chip on the 27 and I haven’t had an issue since in over a year. I know, it is probably a coincidence, but it is what it is.

Is it a coincidence that Brett Favre suddenly needs ankle surgery that will keep him out until after training camp?

    Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe they are related.
