Looking to launch out of Winona this Friday. Taking an old friend out that barely fishes. Looking to keep it simple for him and use live bait…crawlers and minnows. In pursuit of anything that bites really. Any advice to put us on some fish would be greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to IDO. I’m not 100% sure about Winona but I do know that the white bass have been pretty thick at the dams in Trempealeau and Dresbach so I’d imagine it’d be the same at Winona. A jig and minnow should catch all of those you could want. You could also throw cranks, spinnerbaits etc at them for a little more excitement.

Don’t eat them though, I heard it turns your hair red. Just ask Blue Fleck.

Better than a big brown stripe I guess. It’s your story.

That’s Pat’s undies…..he keeps them color-coded so he doesn’t put them on backwards.

    Welcome to IDO joshbfishn

Like mentioned, the whitebass can be found in the tail waters on pools 7 and 8.
Casting any 1/8oz jig tipped with a minnow will keep you busy. Look for the Whitebass to be busting surface chasing minnows. Large schools of whities will also attrack birds looking for a free meal chased to the top by the finned critters.

Good luck, let us know what the out come is
