Pretty open ended question. Better for the dollar? Better for a certain application? What series of rod are you comparing.

Top of the line Croix better than top of the line Falcon IMO. I have used customer service once both and prefer Falcon for that.

The Falcons are rods that occupy the niche comparable to Croix Triumph thru Avid levels. While they are certainly fishable rods, they don’t offer the many different actions that the Croix do… like MXF and MLXF actions… nor do they have a “trade up” program to upgrade your rod for a very reasonable price.

I have fished with the St. Croix rods for a long long time now…Spinning 6’6″ Avids and Premiers… 6’9″ Avids…Trolling rods with the fantastic feel and touch of the Wild River Rods as well as the tide masters…

So I feel I have a good working knowledge of the St. Croix rods…

Now…with that being said…I got to fish with a Falcon Elite Tech rod a week or so ago…Spinning outfit pitching for walleyes… Fantastic feel and balance using a 3/16oz jig pitching to the shallows and current breaks… I do not recall the action but the rod I was using had an excellent tip speed and plenty of backbone to set the hook on some fantastic walleyes !!!

    So…Better you ask ? Which one ???

I would go with the one that best fits your budget, and the one that matches your boat so you look good doing it !!

If you don’t mind dropping some serious $$, the Croix Legend Xtreme XS69MLXF is just a dream to jig/pitch with when combined with a light reel and thin braid. I can’t even imagine a rod coming close to toping how well that rod fishes/feels for jigs, blades, etc…….

I swear by St.Croix and Shimano reels. My brother on the other hand is a Falcon guy. I have used them both, there both great rods. By the St.Croix has way cooler hats.

Try both to see which feels better to you. My dad loves Croix and I just don’t like the feel of them for some reason but absolutely love a Fenwick I have. So try different ones to see what fits you better. It’s personal fit I think.

Unless I am wrong… Falcon and Fenwick are two different rod makers…
Falcon does have rods up to the $300 range but all actions listed on their website are ML/Med/MedHvy (moderate) actions…so if you like a “whippier”, softer feel in a rod with the traditional parabolic bend, the Falcon spin rod may be for you.
The Fenwick Elite Techs are fine rods also, only lacking the XFast actions, trade up programs and Gold Star (no hassle repair/replacements)…even if your buddy breaks your rod! most St. Croix can be fished for free (test drive) at Everts bait shop.

Bottom line…if you like the feel, and its in your budget…buy it.
