I am looking to insure the boat and i am wondering if you know of the best priced as well as a quality coverage insurance provider?

My boat is 18″ express with a 130 Johnson on it.

    Thanks

He’s a sponsor and just a mouse click away.

PS I haven’t ever had a claim knock on wood, but I know a guide that had a lower end leave him before the ink was dry on the premium check (almost) and he was very happy with the performance.

if you cant add your boat to your home and autos with any confidence through your current agent/company then 1- you are paying too much 2- your current agent isnt doing his job 3- you need to review your insurance plan.

I am an Independent Insurance Agent with 50+ companies! There are a number of good companies out there. Progressive Insurance actually has a great boat policy. I usually do not recommend placing boat on your home policy because if you have a boat claim, it is really becomes a home claim. Two or more Non-weather home claims,in a 3 year period, can permit your insurance company to non-renew your home policy.

I’d be happy to take a look at a quote for you Jeff.

Angler’s Advantage is a product that is specificaly designed for the angler in mind, and their product is very affordable when compared to the rates charged by stardard auto/home insurance carriers. Their claims service has been outstanding as well from my experiences, and I would be happy to provide references that would agree.

    Unlikely to happen…..
Any reputable company with competent adjusters wont cancel you for having claims. You are going to pay more in premiums but that should be expected.

Any good agent will advise his client about claims. Competent claims adjuster don’t provide advice on whether or not to make a claim. By the time the claim adjuster is there, the claim is already in the system.

Do you agents advise having insurance on an older 15′ boat w25hp motor that’s not worth more than $2K or so? After a deductible, there’s not much left to insure.

    Thanks

I would take the money you would pay for insurance on it and buy a couple more rods. That or save it and when you do hit something and trash the boat, use it toward a new boat.

Good question Pete. Most insurance companies are going to have an annual policy mimimum that you are going to fall well under with a boat of that value. Once you factor in the deductible, as well as the boats value, I think you are best off to endorse the boat on your homeowner’s policy to cover yourself for the liabilty coverage only.

Most companies will allow you to add this endorsement onto your policy for $15-20/year.

    Thanks Justin,

Good advice re: a good way to cover yourself from a liability aspect.
