Maybe will be able to get out and do some fishing this Tuesday and was wondering if anyone is doing any good on pool 2? Or do you think better luck now on pool 4? What are your thoughts? Thanks!

I dont fish Pool 4 much, but I was able to get a few takers on some crank baits on Pool 2 last week. That bite should just keep getting better, the river was in real nice shape.

I fished pool 4 yesterday with Dustin and friend Greg and we had a nice mess of fish from 18” – 24” on cranks. Nothing fancy… long lining in the river and on the north end of Pepin pulling #7 blue sliver shad raps or #5 jointed raps in firetiger or red craw worked well. 10’ of water seemed to be the target depth out in the lake. Speeds were 2.2 +/-.

Glad you like the hat. FYI – I got in new two colors as well. Black / grey and black/gold. Here’s Jonny P in one of the black / gold hats.

We got one eye trolling and 3 casting cranks on a wingdam yesterday on pool 2. Size range 15″ to 20″.

Did you try dragging or drifting bait in the river at all or is it too early for that? When you run cranks in the river you generally pull them up river, correct?

I troll cranks up or down river.

I just avoid trolling down river over rocks, because I like my cranks.

We didn’t try dragging jigs and bait because our goal was to help Dustin find 3 or 4 active pods of fish for upcoming guide trips. So we really covered water. But we had some friends up in the river dragging jigs that did fair – good. It definitely isn’t too early by any means.

With a little help from James, I took some guys out and we dragged jigs with crawlers. Actually did quite well. Ended up catching 15 walleyes…nothing big, but between those and sheepies, the people were happy with the fishing.
