Anyone interested? We could hit a couple state owned forests or public land. Hunt these tasty little treats and at the end of it cook these tasty little buggers up with some red meat and beer?? Sounds like heaven to me?

Maybe try for a day in 2 or 3 weeks when hopefully they are growing so thick you will need a weed wacker to knock em down………………….

Actually I’m not a full-blown carmudgon. I only appear so online. If I had time I would be interested. Does sound fun as long as its on neutral ground..

From here on through May my weekends are loaded with fishing of course. I get my shrooms on weekdays close to the cities.

I’ll bet SE MN would be an outstanding place to look this weekend.

Our ground temp is is good to go throughout the state but too dry right now. Talking of rain Friday and Saturday. That will be all we’ll need here and they will be a popping up everywhere. The wife has found enough for 2 pan fulls so far but they are very small and far between.

I’d be interested but afraid my schedule this season wouldn’t allow. What part of the state (and which state) are you talking to host such an event?

NOTE: I’ve heard the beer is cold in the southwest part of the state (WI). I’ve also heard the limestone rich soil in the southern region not only promotes more morels but larger morels. Kind of like the pool 4 walleye fishery.

from woods to pan, we found most at dead cottonwoods and north side of the hills, 350 or so yesterday, wait for the rain, they will be moving from the sand to the hills. Oh yeah don’t forget the white T shirts and hats, the ticks are really bad!

Suzuki I now live in the cities as well. I would be more than happy to meet ya some where and hunt these tasty treats! I have a few spots and would happy to share. The more eyes the better!

Ok boys I was thinking of heading down to Whitewater and do a little shroom hunting. There is a ton of public land down there and it should be really good in a week or so. I live in St. Paul and I can fit 4 or 5 guys in my car. Would be more than happy to drive.

Maybe get rolling around 7 get there by 9 or so and start hunting! The cool part about Whitewater is that it is a pretty darn good Trout fishery.

What a amazing day that would be pick some shrooms catch a few eater trout………gril em all up with some brats and dogs…….share a few cold ones

I think it would be a great time! I am open to any ideas or any other places you might think would be productive.

Let me know. Lets get the ball rollin!

I’m in, Klink! Got room for a couple of 8 year old twin boys and a fly rod or two? Ah heck, let’s just rendezvous somewhere before, I’ve got a couple of spots on the way by Red Wing.

I spent a good 2 hours looking yesterday, didnt find a thing, I think the areas i looked were ok, hard to say, it was my first attempt ever shroom hunting, I think I got a good idea of quite a few spots to keep checking. I’m game anytime for someone to join me, or if someone else wants another set of eye, I just want some experince so I can try and figure this out better.

With the rain and the lilacs popping, I’m going next weekend for sure. I have some lunch time spots too for the week, I’ll keep you guys posted here. Good luck! Nick, seems like the big deal is seeing the first ones, from there something clicks in the old brain and you can spot them easier. At least for me!
