    Terrova owners/users I have a question

I just bought and installed a new Terrova. I read through the manual from cover to cover. I am having trouble not being able to raise the motor to stow it out of the way, once it’s down. The manual says to push the release lever in, and then press it down towards the floor, then you should be able to raise and pivot the motor to stow it. When I push the release lever in and down it doesn’t seem to release the motor locking cams. The only way I can get the motor back up it to physically lean over the boat and rotate both motor locking cams to release the tension the motor puts onto the locking pin. Then I can pull the motor up. When you push in and down on your lever, does the locking pin move out so you can then pull up the motor?

I have a feeling this new motor is defective. Can you try to explain the process you use to pull up your Terrova trolling motor?

See photo to see the locking cams that I have to push down on to be able to stow the motor.

    Thanks

In and down should work.Maybe a little shot of WD 40 might help if it is dry and sticky.

Sounds like the release lever isn’t connected. When you took the side plates off to bolt it to the bow did the release rod somehow get disconnected? The release lever should easily push in and downward to release to locking mechanism to deploy and stow.

Did you mount it on a release plate? Do you have enough clearance? Mine works nice and easy.

Local authorized service center, go to them. It is new under warranty they will take care of it.

I took the outer shell off, and all seems well. It is a very simple mechanical system. Once the motor is down, all you should have to do is push the release pedal in, then down, and pull up the motor right? Well, no matter how hard I push the release pedal in and down, it only wiggles the release cams that locks the motor in.

are you mounted to a plate ? if so is the screw that holds the two plates in place not letting you push the lever all the way down on the release I have had coustomers with this problem.

Are you talking about the thumb screw that attaches the plate base (mounted on the boat) that locks to the motor base? If so, it looked like the release lever never touched the thumb screw.
