I read the Post recently about what gauge wire to use for a trolling motor. I’ll be running 6 gauge for the trolling motor, and electric start for the motor.

What gauge should I be using for:
    – Interior Lights
    – Nav Lights
    – Bilge Pump, Livewell Pump, Recirculating Pump
    – Electronics (GPS, Graphs)
    – DC socket (Cigarette lighter socket)

    Thanks for the help!

I would use 12ga on the pumps and electronics and cig lighter…. the rest 14ga.

Find some 14ga and 12ga extension cord. Makes the job a lot easier! 3 in 1 with only one piece to run.

You really don’t need anything bigger than 16 ga and I would recomment 18 ga for anything fused at 5 amps, which is probably your first 4 items. For the lighter socket, 16 ga should be plenty. If you think about it, 14 ga is good for 15 amps of current in your house with lengths you won’t even come close to duplicatiomn. IMHO 12 ga is a pain to use unless you really need it. If you look at most electronics today the power wires are often 20 to 22 ga. 250 circular mils per amp is plenty for straight wiring.
