I’ve been wanting a backup camera for backing up to trailers and also wanted a clean factory look to it. I ordered a factory door handle and a camera and monitor off ebay and a couple nights later it is up and working. You can see the ball hitch in the bottom of the one pic, can’t wait to try it out, hopefully this decreases the number of times I jump in and out of my truck trying to hook up a trailer. The most expensive part was the tailgate latch from Ford.

Nice! Good job on the custom look. I want one! Nice to have for everyday backing out the driveway – don’t run over any neighborhood kids protection.

I have one of the factory installed ones on my Ford and it works great for backing up to your trailer. Just go slow as you get to the trailer very quickly, but aligned perfectly. Hard to believe I got along without it. Nice install

    Great idea!

Right now I can easily push my trailer tongue around to align the hitch to the ball. But as I get older, and less capable in that department, backup camera’s sound like a better & better idea.

    Thanks for the post!

…oh so you don’t have back up until the hitch bangs into the bumper and scratches up a bunch of stuff?

    Unit looks good.

Hooking up the boat isn’t too bad, it’s bobcat trailer and car trailer that don’t roll so nice. I did have to get the latch from a ford dealer, it was something like $75. The camera and monitor were each $30 shipping included off ebay (we’ll see how long they last). In 06 they didn’t have the option for the camera on my truck but my boss has it on his and that is what gave me the bug to install one.
