Camping this weekend?

The wife told me she wanted to break-out the pickup camper this weekend and tow the boat to a place that will produce some panfish.

We live in Mora and wouldn’t be leaving until Friday night, so I’m thinking somewhere within an hour’s drive. Is Minnewawa producing anything? Farm Island?

Any other suggestions for an open campground with hookups on a smaller lake in the area?

    Thanks,
    Lars

Thats funny. I was thinking about heading to Mora to chase Panfish. You have some good lakes in that area. Maybe the crappies on mille lacs might be going. you could stay at the state park.

If you are thinking about Efink Lake, get there early. The pict below is the launch from Saturday. And bring body armor as, unless the fish have scattered by then, you’ll have to fish with everyone and their brother in the well known early spots. I am waiting for these fish to move. They may also be staging still in other parts of the lake.

If you are not talking about Efink Lake, please disregard.

Seriously, I would leave the camper home and take a little drive up to Knife a few miles away. My uncle and I slayed nice crappies there this weekend! We were going to make a quick stop and check things out before continuing on to Big Sandy….as it turned out we never made it to Sandy!

    Thanks…

I hope all those people are keeping the smaller ones and letting the bigger ones go, otherwise all we got to look forward to moving forward is stunted fish resembling metro crappies. Not to mention, they are a lot smaller right now than they used to be.

Wife: I have the urge to get the camper out this week and go camping this weekend.

I guess I could try to talk her in to testing the camper out in the driveway. Then I could leave the in the garage fridge.

But I have a feeling she’ll respond with

If camping at home is ruled out… any other ideas?

Any experience with how flexible campgrounds are with their open dates? I’m seeing a lot that advertise May 1.

Vado’s Bait Shop mentioned that Rush has been producing crappies…. not to far from you.
