    Hello IDO. newbie on bord.
I am carious. Do you plan on what you’ll be doing/using before you head out? try different presentations to see what work when you in water? or do you have a certain presentation that you use for certain time of the year?.

i did it, my first posted

    Welcome to IDO…

Great first post! I usually have a mind set of how I am going to fish that day, but usually have a back up tackle box or two just in case I need to switch during the day…..

I usually have a game plan for P4 but as soon as I talk to Dean, he has a new one for me!!! Always for the better of course!!

I’ll usually have 2 rods tied up with the same presentation and usually 3 of these 2-rod sets so I go out with the possibility of doing 3 different things.

For me a lot depends on what I want to do. I’ll intentionally limit myself to a few things sometimes so I can’t fall back on something else. When I started trolling leadcore in the fall, I left my spinning rods at home so I had to learn to catch fish on leadcore.

If I’m just going for fun, I’ll try to plan what I want to do as much as possible, and keep an extra 500 or so cranks in the boat just in case.

    Welcome to Ido!

I hooked up with Turk a few years ago. I asked him what we were going to use. He said “let’s let the fish decide”.

That’s been my game plan ever since.

I always try to have a game plan, but there are always 2 or 3 backup plans onboard. I usually try to start with faster presentations and then slow down as needed.

    Welcome to the site.

Most of the time I have a basic game plan set before heading to the river. A person needs this to make sure you have the rite tackle and gear with. Other than this some days there is a preset agenda if there are things I want to get done on the river. Other days its just bouncing from one spot to the next where ever the mood and the fish take me. These tend to be the more relaxed fishing days.

I always go out with a primary plan and at least a few back-up plans in my head. I start with who I am fishing with and what the target species will be for the day and that helps me sort my gear and the starting points. From there, it depends if I/we are after size or numbers of fish to further define the tackle and the locations and presentations.

Good luck and welcome to IDO

I start with what I anticipate to be a pattern for a given species, on that days weather conditions and other factors. Then I let the fish tell me what they want

After being at this for a while…I have everything with me to use for the current conditions…I.E. Prespawn, post spawn etc… I start with probably 4-5 rods rigged and adjust to the fish’s preferences from there.
Sunday , on P-4, I’ll have rods rigged for blades, ringies, rigging and dragging…with a box of cranks tucked away just in case…

Like most people have said, I have an initial plan, usually 2 rods set up for that. Then I have a few others rig if the first options don’t work. Then if all else fails, I will usually switch the game plan completely and go after another type of fish.

last weekend on pool 4 we couldnt buy a bite.. jig and minnow nothing, lindy rigging nothing, hook ans split shot 1 14 1/2 inch humpback eye. i was looking at the graph all day noticing the fish werent right on the bottom but about 2 feet off. pulled out the 3 ways with floaters ad red hooks and it was lights out till dark. it pays off to bring a lil bit of everything because the only way your gunna be able to tell what they want is to let them tell you what they want!!!

I have a plan that I would like to work but always have others on the back burner, just in-case.
