they dont make a big enough boo for me, and from what i heard Wooger will have a diminished role. The clowns they are bringing in couldnt carry Franks mike stand.. They at least could bring back Wally Shaver, imo
deertrackerPosts: 9241April 7, 2010 at 12:45 pm #861547This is almost enough to make me a Huskies fan….NOT! Nothing is that bad. They did screw up big time here though.
DTApril 7, 2010 at 1:43 pm #861575Woog was starting to loose his marbles and he brought Frank down with him. My brother and I repeat “Woogisms” all the time. “A blind nut…, no a squirrel…, a blind nut finds a squirrel sometime.” “Yeah Frank, thats right, yep your right.” “He should get jail time for that.” If Lapanta and Darby are announcing the games next year, I’ll probably be sleeping before the 2nd period.
April 7, 2010 at 1:45 pm #861576In my opinion he embellishes the efforts of the home team far too much. I will not miss him. Woog calls it straight up and I can handle him.
April 7, 2010 at 1:51 pm #861577Woog has always sounded like sour grapes, especially in the best years of Lucia’s reign.
Mazzocco is a class act…if there is such a thing in hockey. Always prepared and professional.
Darby is watching paint dry….
April 7, 2010 at 2:16 pm #861589I heard they wanted more of a “homer” announcing the games!
Imagine that, Fox wanting homers. Can’t let anything get in the way of calling what you see on the ice.
April 7, 2010 at 3:59 pm #861658I’m a Sioux fan – and heck, I’ll miss Frank and Doug calling the games. They’re usually hard pressed to give ND (or most other rival teams for that matter) credit, but when they do, it was well deserved. They were also critical of the Gophs when justified – did that cause the firing? Or was it ratings? Heck, even if the Gophs were a great team this year – it was hard to find them on TV – either oddball times, pre-empted, shown later or not on at all. Lapanta and whomever – please not Gorg – will have big shoes to fill. They were entertaining – and had excellent hockey knowledge.
April 7, 2010 at 5:22 pm #861691I just dont get why they would let him go? It’s like getting rid of Bert and Dick for the Twins.
Oh by the way Happy Birthday Bert!

Oh, was it Bert’s birthday???
I am gonna miss that muskrat Frank wore on his head. No way that was his real hair.

Nope, fan of the only WCHA team still left in the NCAA playoffs. He was OK as long as he wasn’t announcing for the Gophers. It was the embellishment of marginal play and shots that were off the mark that made him painful to listen to. He was for the most part impartial with regards to penalties which I will give him credit for.April 8, 2010 at 12:18 pm #861979Frank M. was too honest in some of the things he said this year with the Gophers in a “down” year. Lucia also did not like some of Frank’s comments. I can’t hardly believe how anyone could be more than Frank,,,, but FSN wants more of a Gopher Homer calling the play.
Frank was on Reusse’s radio show a day after the announcement, He did not rip FSN, pretty classy for a guy 24 hrs. after being fired.walleyehunter83Posts: 56April 8, 2010 at 3:47 pm #862125Quote:

You get that with most hometown announcers. St. Cloud announcers are the same ways. Heck, listen to the twins; they are always rooting for the twins.
