I think the problem is going to come from shipping them more than not having a bait dealers license.

I do know that in Mn it is illegal for a bait shop to buy them from a non licensed bait vendor, but not sure about selling to a individual or out of your house.

I wouldn’t think without being a sponsor here it would be a good idea to sell here but CL could be an option,BUT keep in the back of your mind that your local baitshop needs to make $$$ too.

Doing a quick search, I couldn’t find anything at the MN DNR site about crawlers. You’ll need to charge sales tax and a tax number to sell, well anything pretty much.

I would still make a call to the DNR prior to going whole hog.

I bought my first boat when I was 13 years old with the money I made from selling crawlers and mowing lawn. I sold giant crawlers for $1 a doz. Great extra money for a young kid. I picked about 20,000 crawlers to pay for it

No one bothered me as little kid, but I have no idea if it’s legal or not. I always thought you only needed a bait license for selling minnows, but I’m not certain. I’d check the regs to be sure.

My grandma used to pick and sell tons of them (If anyone ever bought crawlers off of 3rd St N and Waite Ave in St. Cloud, that was her ). Granted that was 15+ years ago, but she never had any problems.

They had been coming out the last few days at my house even without the rain. I heard rustling in the leaf litter on the side of the house. When I investigated, I found crawlers snapping back into their holes when I shined the light on them. I can only imagine what it might be like tonight with a little rain.

I found it odd that they were coming out without rain, but I wasn’t surprised. I can see them doing it this time of year when it is cool out. However, I am wondering if maybe this is a sign that the soil is completely thawed now? Doesn’t only the upper foot or so freeze in the winter?

Not trying to derail the post, but it reminded me of them the other night and if anyone might know why they are popping up in numbers without it raining.

Well, that explains the noisy leaves I have heard while the dog is peeing.

I heard a new one today, not to use crawlers off of blacktop because they absorb stuff from it and taste funny to the fish, I wasn’t buying into it as there is only one way to find out if a crawler tastes different being on blacktop versus the ground

You probably know, but I was shocked to find that crawlers are not native…or is it angle worms or both? I swear I had no crawlers in my yard 4 years ago when I first moved in and like I said, now I hear them rustling the leaf litter.

    millelacseye51,

I don’t know your age, but if you are under 18 (and I’m guessing you are) and want to make a few bucks picking crawler I don’t think anyone is going to bust your nuts doing so. I see crawlers for sale signs along the roads up there as common as corn for sale in the fall. Go for it.

Looks like I’m going to get about 10 dozen here before I go to bed tonight!! It’s like finding money popping out of the ground. I love it !!
