Resort Recommendation on Lake Petenwell??

I am looking to for a “nice” place to stay on Lake Petenwell, WI this summer. I’m not picky but the wife and young kids need an upgrade from a fishing shack.

Anyone have any recommendations?

There aren’t too many choices at all that I’m familiar with, much less the “nice” variety. There were only three places on/near the water to rent cabins from, and one sold to a developer two years ago, and it’s closed down, or torn down. The two that are still left, as far as I know: a cabin on the east side of Petenwell,owned by the Petenwell Pub…a great place to grab a pizza by the way, but again, not the Taj Mahal. The Bay Rest resort, just down the road from the Petenwell pub, has cottages and motel rooms….nothing fancy, though. the county park is about 2 blocks down the road, and they have a harbor area that you can rent a slip at to leave your boat in the water. You might try looking into finding private owners renting their houses or condos. There are a number of newer developments around the lake, and maybe you’ll find something that way….or call the chamber of commerce for Nekoosa. Another place to call would be the Lure…a restaurant/bar in one of the newer, nice develpments….maybe they know of some patrons who rent out their houses. Also a couple campgrounds around.
