Ah, the spring peepers. It always seems odd when they start calling. Many years there is still snow around when it happens.
The redwing blackbirds arrived not too long ago too. But for me, the most unusual sign of spring happened about 3 weeks ago while walking the dogs. I actually saw a butterfly. Not some little dinky thing or a moth, but a mourning cloak.
Not sure what he thought he was going to be able to eat.
Also, the goldfinches have paired up and the wintering flock in our yard dispersed. The best part about spring right now is just as the sun starts coming up, the birds start singing loud and the symphony doesn’t have a pause.
