So here is the deal. last year my boat which is a older skeeter 1989 with a 60hp evinrude.. it has always run great… last year I guess a cable snapped and the boat was stuck in high gear. had a guy that works at the holmen pawn look at it…. He said I needed a new gear box (where the shifter that I use to drive the boat is had somthing broke on the indside so I got that and a new cable..ok so it used to get up on plan with me 200lbs and my friend close to 200lbs no problem…. now he needs to sit on the front deck just to get on plain and it seems alot slower. what could this be???? if anyone can help or wants to make some monney fixing this before i take it to the pawn and get raked please let me no. post back pm or please call 608-317-8461 thank you. chris

All things equal, it could only be cable adjustment. You should be able to adjust it, at the motor, so that it hits wide open, when you have the throttle all the way forward. It must not be opening it all the way… that or a fouled plug ???

Don’t completely understand with the broken up sentences. What was all replaced? Did they replace the gear case (lower unit), prop, and cable? First thing to check would be as already stated and make sure throttle is opening all the way. If gear case was replaced was it the same gear ratio? If a different prop is it the same pitch?
