any of you guys use them for when your casting crainkbaits next to shore and get them snagged? was wonderin if they work good. for the price of them if you got a couple crainkbaits back it would pay for itself

I got one last year. I have only used it three times and it was 2 out of 3. Honestly if I am catching fish I don’t take the time to use it, but if it is slow I will try to save a crank.

Get the one with the extendable handle and the little metal coil at the bottom. Also, I would suggest putting a cord on the end to put around your wrist when using it. After loosing 2 to the bottom of the lake trying to get lures off of logs in bigger waves we put the loop thing around our wrist now. Probably saved 20+ crankbaits over the past few years.

    You MUST get the SNAGMASTER!!

In no way am I advertising for Cabela’s; I didn’t realize it was their product. But I will have to say this is the best $10 you’ll spend in a long time. I’ve had mine for years and years, and I have no idea what it’s worth, but it’s a chunk of change. At least $500 I’m sure, with the rods, reels, and cranks it’s saved. I just used it today, in fact.

The best way to use it is out of a boat. Keep your line as tight as you can in the snag, and keep your rod tip up. Try to get on top of the snag and stay as vertical as possible. Clip the snagmaster on, lower it down to your snag and jiggle it around until it either grabs your hooks or the snag and bring it up.

There have been times when I’ve had to really jiggle it quite a few times to get it to latch onto the crank/snag, but it does work. I’ve had to add my own line (which allows you to tie on 50′ if you want, just so you have enough line), and tied it to a small block of wood, but it’s worth every penny.

Yup, and don’t forget when a rod goes overboard too. That’s a big reason mine is worth what it is; it’s saved me a couple rods and reels. With $$ like that involved, it doesn’t take long for the snagmaster to be worth its weight and gold, and then some.
