Looking to make virgin voyage to pool 4 below the red wing dam. I will cross river to other side to EVERTS next week. Very new at this river fishing, but have been watching post and threads for a year or 2 now. I’d like some clear instructions on how to catch a PB. (sry no cats)By reading post over the years there seems to be a sweet tooth on the other side. Now the idea is to GET AS MUCH INFO as possible. Here comes the point system, employees and family members are excluded from this system. Now what brings the most info.Cookies,Cakes, Pies, Homemade, Store bought, or is just as easy to slip the minnow boy a 2.00 tip without the headache of the FW making something.

Good idea…the “minnow boy’s” name is Dean…tall thin kid.I would go there, follow the info provided by the bait shop and just be happy catching something…considering the near flood conditions.
There are definitely PBs out there, but not jumping in the boat…you will have to work at it. Good Luck!mstrumarPosts: 439March 26, 2010 at 10:38 pm #857656Quote:

Homemade Peanut Butter Cookies work wonders… BUT you have to listen to what you hear from whomever happens to be manning the store.March 26, 2010 at 10:42 pm #857657Tip the minnow boy! Homemade cookies, we can have a chat with the FW if needed. There’s usually Busch Light in the refrig, depending on how much you tip the minnow boy he may set you up. By the way, what’s wrong with a 40lb cat? Fight way better than those scaled overgrown whiskerless baitfish ….
Good luck! You picked a good spot!

This is the best post I have read, if dean is the one scooping minnows, he knows more about the river ,fish, location ect. then we will ever know.March 27, 2010 at 12:31 am #857684My best suggestion – book a day with Dustin Stewart and save the baked goods (although Dean at the resort appreciates them-cookies are his favorite from what I understand). You won’t be sorry! The picture in my avatar is one of two 9lb.8oz. fish I caught on the same day with Dustin. You can’t go wrong.

I thought the “minnow boy” wore the pink hat?
That minnnow boy has also been known to ware a pink dress!
March 27, 2010 at 6:09 am #857726Book Dustin if you really want a shot. Many other guides affiliated with this site could also put you on one. My advice-get a guide. The river can humble the best of fisherman. Good luck, get your pin!
March 27, 2010 at 2:31 pm #857769Im not going to tell you a PB is out of the question…..But virgin voyage in these conditions. I think you will be more frustrated of not catching anything. Go to the common spots the first couple of times you head down there and get a bunch of fish in the boat. I fish the river 2-3days a week and Im still fairly new only a few years in pool 4. I made a decision I was going for a pig this spring and let me tell you its been very very very discouraging. The common spots will kick out low 20s fish every day. I dont know what kind of PB your looking for but 10lb+PB is going to be tough. Get a guide. Post some pics if it works out for you. These guys posting pics of Unbelieveable fish are not on their maiden voyage more like couple hundredth voyage. Overall good luck a day on p4 is always fun even with no PB.
