Has anybody used an electric power washer on their boat carpet and if so what were the results? Or would a person be better off taking it to a manual car wash? Any and all help is appreciated.

I have washed my boat carpets several times with my gas powered washer, about 2800psi as I recall. I use a medium force spray end and have had OUTSTANDING results. The carpet comes out looking like brand new every time. Just don’t hold the tip in one spot very long or you’ll cut a hole into the carpet.

I usually just do mine at the local car wash and put in my quarters. I was never really a believer in this until we fished the King Kat champ tourny a few years ago and got the boat loaded with all kinds of stinky cat baits, particular blood. Smelled fierce. Just sprayed it out, used a little soap, and I was astounded at the results. I’m a believer now.

Ditto on the car wash. Use a greese cutting soap like Dawn dish soap. Keep the car wash on the rinse mode. Don’t use the car wash soap. Most have wax additives that you don’t want in the carpet.

I rented a steam cleaner for my house this winter and when finished inside I thought I would give it a try in the boat since I still had time left. WOW! Worked great, like new without getting everything soaked. I will use it again for sure

Personally myself I would not use an electric powerwasher. Years ago a friend lost his son using an electric powerwasher when he was washing his truck. Electricity and water do not mix well when human life in thrown into the mix.

Powerwashing works great on boat carpet, I even use it to powerwash the carpet floor mats in my truck.

    Yes powerwash!!!

Another tip that I got from a buddy of mine. Put some fabric softner in a spray bottle. Spray lightly and brush back against the nap of the carpet. I tried it last year and it made my boat carpet stand right back up, get soft and look like new. Not to mention it’ll smell like fresh laundry for a day or two.

I use Dawn dish soap in hot water with a scrub brush. Nothing works better. First I pre-spray with hose then of course rinse well.
