I have a 03 1790 skeeter with a 75 yammy on it. I’m looking at the 1880 with a 150 yammy. how is this boat on big water and what is the top end for this motor? Any answers would be helpful. Thanks

07′ 1880 with 150 yammi is our tourney boat. hits 45mph and does great on the waves. Not as well as a Ranger at speed (what does) but does not take very many waves over the bow when anchored (unlike a Ranger). Slow trolls well with the 150 for pulling core too.
If you are buying new, Make sure you do a rear live well test. They have not been good about running the overflow drains well. It will prob overflow into the floor of the boat. -Mark

I have an 08 1880 with the 150 on it and really like it. I also use it for tourneys and it is a good boat. I can agree with the livewell thing because mine does that at certain times. Also trying to get Skeeter to deal with all my warranty issues in a timely fashion took an act of god! All in all I am still very happy every time I am fishing in it.

I believe Eric R’s 1880 with 150 FS 150 is consistantly a 47-48mph GPS boat and an occassional 50 when conditions are perfect.Great hole shot as well.Very solid rough water ride as well.

I have run an 08 1880 with a 150 on it for a year and a half now. I havent had it out on milacs or any big water like that other than Lake Pepin. I have yet to take a wave or wake over the front, or get wet from the side splash. With 2.5 to 3 foot waves on pepin I can average 34 mph or so taking it easy and not beating myself or the boat up.

As far as speed, Like dean said a consistant 47 to 48 mph boat. I did change out props here recently and was able to get 54 down river and 52 up river. full equipment load and 3/4 full on gas. 2 guys, same load and it was 52 down and 48 up.

Also bear in mind that they are no longer making the 1880 with the 150. The are now making the 1850 that maxed out at a 150 hp, and not 200 like the 1880.

Any questions feel free to hollar. 715 829 2160

P.S. I also have my boat for sale if you are looking for a slightly used one!!!!

I love my boat. I’ve had it for 7 years and the only issue I had was vapor lock in the gas line- they fixed that. I have friends that run Warriors and this boat takes water just as good if not better than theirs. I’ve owned Lund and Sylvan both aluminum, and this boat far out performs them. Three people in it, I can get 32 miles per hour. I cant say enough about this boat I love it. Looking at the 1850 consel just because of shoulder problems, and yes I still have this boat. Up on Lac Suel, we make a 26 mile run one way and fish all day and when we get back I still have gas left. All in all, it’s the best boat I’ve ever had. Any other questions, PM me and I can give you a phone number
    Thanks, Gene
