I’m looking to get a new spinning reel used for walleye fishing. I might use it for finesse fishing for bass even. any suggestions would be great…….lookin to spend around $100…

Look at the Flueger Arbor ,light weight and bigger spool for pitching light weight jigs, not sure how it would hold up to bass fishing but a GREAT walleye reel and @ about only $79.99.

Let us know what you decide on arbor

    Pflueger Supreme or Shimano Senora.

The latest reel in my arsenal is the Pfleuger Arbor. Its large diameter spool is terrific at reducing line memory, and it casts light jig/bait or jig/artificial presentations a country mile. I spend a lot of my warm water season pitching or dragging 1/16 oz jigs and bait, and this reel is just the ticket. On top of that, it has a terrific drag system, and its light weight perfectly balances with very light, sensitive rods like the St. Croix Legend Xtreme.

Below are a few fish that I’ve picked up this later winter/early spring since I started fishing with the Arbor. If it can handle that big buffalo, it can handle anything! Two thumbs up from this guide….and I know my 2010 clients will feel the same.

When you’re ready to pick one up, be sure to give Dean at Everts a ring (715-792-2333); he’ll set one up for you, and even spool it with your favorite line. Just be sure to ask him if the ramps are open first.

I have been using Shimano Symmetres and Saharas and love them. I just got a Shimano Saros and so far it has been excellent. I do not think that you can go wrong with Shimano.

3 years ago I was in a picnh on a fishing trip and needed a reel. The only one they had at a “Ma an Pa” Baitshop that would work was a Abu Garcia 301. It was 29.99 I think. It has turned out to be a great reel, and not just for the money either. It is a great all around reel with a smooth drag.

Dean set me up with a couple of Pflueger Supremes @ $100 a pop…plus he loaded the spools with Cortland for me. Love the reels…I did not know about the Arbors at the time, might have gone that route. The reels have great Quality. !!! Forgot to mention they balance perfectly with my Croix Legend Xtreme rods…tremendous rigs.

The Abu 301’s have been good reels for years, and still are….lightweight and strong

I really like my shimano sahara’s. I have been using them now for about 8-10 years, and they still reel like I bought them yesterday.

Shimano Stradic. It’s my reel. Price is 149.00 on them, but if you look online, I bet you could pick one up for around 120. Good luck!

Shimano symetre here as well, think I’m up to eight or so. I wish they hadn’t gone up for this year. Realy nice for what used to be $75.00 or so before the price hike, now $100 or less.
